"Tierra Robada" and "Welcome to Gringolandia" Posters

I designed a poster for the "May 1st, 2007 Immigrants' Rally & Marcha" in Sacras.  The rally and marcha took place at the California State Capitol.  I printed an edition of 90 posters of "Tierra Robada" and gave them to the masses.  I also gave out 60 copies of "Welcome to Gringolandia," a poster that I had printed on September 4, 2006.  A lot of Raza  didn't come out this year to protest the unjust immigration laws due to the raids (La migra anda por todas partes deportando a gente y dividiendo familias- ¡culeros!).  ¡La lucha sigue!

"¡Ya Basta!  End Discrimination" Poster

I facilitated a workshop for the Califas MEChA Statewide Conference on Revolutionary Silkscreen Printing on October 21, 2006.  I designed a poster to be printed in my workshop and to be use for the MEChA Statewide Action- a protest agaist the Davis Police Department for their discriminatory practices.  A total of 100 posters were printed in my workshop.  We marched about 4 miles from UC, Davis to the police department.  There were about 400 participants and the energy was great.  MEChA, ¡Presente!

"Welcome to Gringolandia" Poster

I designed a poster for the "Immigrants' Rally & Marcha" in Sacras.  The rally and marcha took place at Southside Park on September 4, 2006.  I printed an edition of 140 posters and gave them to the masses.  In comparison to other marches, this one was relatively small but the energy was the same- ¡prendida!  Once again, I kept it real with my Chicanismo, I feel browner!  C/S

Mural at Dingle Elementary School

In the Spring 2006 Quarter, I was the TA for Malaquias Montoya's "Mexican/Chicano Public Art" Class at UC, Davis.  We painted a mural at Dingle Elementary School in Woodland, California.  It was a great experience working as a collective on this project, my first in tradition of the great Mexican Muralists: Rivera, Orozco and Siqueiros.  This was a real grassroots community project as we met with Dingle Elementary students to talk about their community, their school, and their love ones.

Here is what the Davis Enterprise had to say, "The mural was created to empower children to continue working toward their goals. The imagery 'embodies the children and community members in their diverse roles,' the class wrote in a description. Deep-rooted trees and agave plants anchor the painting, expressing 'strength and struggle of the people.' Monarch butterflies represent migrant workers. Outstretched hands symbolize 'the community's embrace — to give and receive, to sow and to reap...The panel on the right depicts cultures through the songs of our ancestors flowing from the past to the present, and to the future to cultivate the spirit of future generations; just as the farm workers cultivate the earth. The panel on the left encapsulates the history of our communities struggling and marching towards equality."

"CheFRIDA" & "Sitting Bull" Posters

I designed two posters to be used in the "May 1st: A Day Without Immigrants" Celebration-March-Protest that took place on International Workers' Day 2006 in Sacraztlán.  We marched from Southside Park to the Federal Immigration Building and then to the State Capitol.  In total, I printed about 270 posters that were distributed to the masses.  The media said that there were about 20,000 people at the rally, but we think that there were more than 30,000 people fighting for dignity and justice on behalf and side by side with documented and undocumented workers.  As a Chicano artist, I fulfilled my mission- to empower my community through the gift that the great spirit gave me; ARTE!  C/S

"ZAPATA," & "ChePATA" Posters

I designed two posters to be used in the March for Immigrants' Rights that took place on April 10, 2006 in Sacraztlán.  We marched from Southside Park to the Federal Immigration Building and then to the State Capitol.  In total, I printed about 200 posters that were distributed to the Marcha participants.  Los compañeros from the Sindicato also printed posters (check us out out at www.myspace.com/brownsindicato).  About 10,000 people came out to the march, it was powerful to see that many gente chanting  "Legalization Now!"  "¡Sí se puede!"  and "¡Viva La Raza!"  Once again, I fulfilled my duties as a Chicano artist by putting my talentos to the benefit of my community.  C/S

"Fuck La Migra," "Mr. Gringo...," & "ChESAR" Posters

I designed three posters to be used in the 2006 César Chávez March, which protested HR 4437, a racist bill that will criminalize all undocumented person and anyone that provide assistance to them.  In total, I printed about 250 posters that were distributed to the Marcha participants.  Los compañeros from the Sindicato also printed posters (check us out out at www.myspace.com/brownsindicato).  The Marcha took place on Saturday, March 25, 2006 from West Sacramento to Sacramento.  About 5000 people came out to the march and their voices were loud and clear, "We are not criminals!"  "Legalization Now!"  "¡Sí se puede!"  "¡Viva La Raza!"  It felt good to once again put my talentos to the benefit of my community.  C/S

Stop the Terrorists! Poster

I designed this poster to be used in an Anti Minutemen Rally.  I ran about 100 posters that were distributed on a rally organized by local and statewide progressive/ leftist organizations.  The rally took place at the California State Capitol on October 29, 2005.  We outnumbered the Minutemen 3 to 1- we had about 600 people and they had about 200.  That shows you that there are more people out there fighting for social justice and human rights than racists pendejos!  Arte revoltolto...¡Presente! Arte del Sindicato Cafe...¡Presente! C/S
